World Première

Stabat Mater by Paul Carr

In a programme rich with the perfect choral writing of Elgar and Lauridsen, we proudly present a newly commissioned setting of the ancient religious poem known in Latin as the Stabat Mater. Paul Carr is a composer well-known to The English Arts Chorale after his earlier commission The Lamb became a favourite with the singers. Paul will giving an introduction to his new work at the concert.

St John's College Cambridge

Stabat Mater by Paul Carr

The EAC repeats the programme of last week in the vibrant acoustic of St. John's College Chapel, Cambridge. Composer Paul Carr will give an introduction to his new work Stabat Mater, commissioned by the English Arts Chorale and given its world première by them in St Mary's Reigate a week previously.

The Lark Ascending

Violinist Savitri Grier

Enjoy Britain's favourite piece of classical music - The Lark Ascending - in a concert packed with memorable items performed by the English Arts Chorale and its outstanding professional orchestra. The gifted and delightful Savitri Grier returns to Reigate to play Vaughan William's miniature masterpiece.

Organ Transplant

We were hoping to be able to celebrate the restoration of the mighty Norman & Beard pipe organ in St Mary's Church in this concert, but unfortunately it is not going to be completed in time.

A replacement programme will be announced as soon as possible.

War Requiem

Benjamin Britten's War Requiem

The English Arts Chorale and Brian Kay's Burford Singers, with the choristers of Bristol Cathedral, combine to give two performances of Britten's War Requiem, marking the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War.
